New AFP Student Created Play

The Anne Frank Project is thrilled to announce the newest addition to our devised plays, Retrograde! Over this fall semester, the Rwanda 2023 delegation processed their impactful experiences through the building of a play that will tour local schools in spring 2024. Students interested in touring this play may contact Professor Drew Kahn, kahnaj@buffalostate.edu, to join the class.

Retrograde Synopsis

In the Galactic Center of Vehement Galaxy, amongst a multicolor Nebula, live supernatural beings that orchestrate, oversee, and intervene in Earthly behavior problems when necessary. This story follows these deities of emotions and their ruling god as they have identified their newest target in need of their services. In this story, K'ONNI, a reckless teen, is helped by supernatural beings through his journey of learning what appreciation really means. K’ONNI, of course, goes through everyday trials and tribulations as any teen does. However, in this unique intergalactic moment, he learns that if he continues his currently destructive path, it will be his ultimate downfall. With guidance from the supernatural beings K’ONNI learns the lesson ‘Your Journey Towards Forgiveness Starts with Empathy.’
