Sophia’s Legacy

Sophia is a survivor of the Holocaust and contemporary of Anne Frank. She is a friend of the Anne Frank Project and SUNY Buffalo State. Since 2006, when she first spoke to the cast of The Diary of Anne Frank, she has been a driving force behind the mission of the Anne Frank Project. In 2019, Sophia received a SUNY Honorary Doctorate at Buffalo State for her lifetime of service in education and activism.

Summer 2019 is the inaugural cohort of SUNY Buffalo State’s Social Justice Fellowship: Sophia’s Legacy. It will build the foundation of an online social justice educational resource called Sophia’s Legacy Project that connects the lessons of the Holocaust to current human rights issues through engaging, kinesthetic curriculum. The Anne Frank Project is proud to partner with Buffalo State’s School of Education and US Holocaust Memorial Museum Fellows to create the Sophia Legacy Project.
